Robert Fuest was born in 1927 in London. He served a period of time in post-war Germany with the Air Force in National Service air-lifting coal over the Berlin Wall, after which he attended Wimbledon and Hornsey Schools of Art. For a time he lectured at Southampton College of Art. Fuest has also spent time as a drummer in a warm-up band for Chris Barber and George Melly, as a designer, screenwriter and as a director. His films include 'Just Like a Woman', 'The Abominable Dr. Phibes' and the series of The Avengers and The New Avengers. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy since 1951 and also at the RWA, NEAC, RI.
